Phoenix the day run by George Barrie

Monday 4th February: seen our usual trip to Phoenix Gold a little overcast but would turn hot.

There was some confusion at the start as some caddies were at temple early for the Chinese New year but finally our 6 groups teed of only ten minutes later than scheduled. Course as usual was in great condition, although some greens were a little slower than of late, as the rest of the world celebrated the start of the year of the pig, the Billabong celebrated the Day of the dragon, Welsh Dragon that is.

In 4th Place was Thiery Petrement with 36 Points including one two

Taking 3rd place was Peter Davies (Australian Welsh) with 37 points Including Two 2s

Second Place to another Welshman Glyn Davies with a good score of 39 Points with One 2

But the day went to Steve Dodd straight from the valleys with a magnificent day in the sun score of 44 points including one 2.

Everyone agreed that it was a great day out, except perhaps one Scotsman, who, on the 8th hole of ocean was heard to scream has anyone got a chain saw.

Phoenix Gold today, the course was in great condition as usual and quite busy with a steady flow of golfers all around the course. With four groups playing it was quite a fast round with no holdups at
