Haven Consultants Trophy

HAVEN CONSULTANTS MONTHLY MEDAL

When is the management of Green Valley going to accept the inevitable fact that the course is in the worst condition that anybody has ever seen. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the recent rain has encouraged the grass, that is there, to grow making the large, ugly bare brown patches, on the fairway or in the rough, look even worse and, in addition, the grass on the 5th green has almost disappeared. Perhaps the staff’s time would be best spent repairing these areas and not cutting down trees and trimming bushes. The Haven Consultants Monthly Medal sponsored by Brian Chapman today with 9 groups set to cross swords, stood on the 1st tee in warm, cloudy conditions. The ladies competition was closely contested as usual with the ever present Miss Noodle (10) occupying 3rd place dropping only 4 shots on the back nine for a net 69 one point from being in a shout for the top spot but Miss Porn (23) with 5 shots better after the turn lost out on countback to Miss Thip (18) who had 8 pars on her round to take the plaudits with a net 68. Overall, the men’s scores were not impressive with that old warhorse, Jeff North (10) again on the podium with a net 73 one point behind Arch Armstrong (11) who was well behind his playing partner, Tony Oaks (12), on the back nine at one point but he had a shot at overtaking Tony by gaining 3 shots on the last 2 holes with a birdie on the 18th for a net 72 the same total as Tony who claimed the trophy with 39 on the way home. Four 2s today going to Porn, Phin, Lynn and Jeff.
