HAVEN CONSULTANTS MEDAL

The penultimate round of the Haven Consultants Monthly Medal today with 10 previous winners of this competition waiting in the wings before battling it out to find this year’s champion in both ladies and gentlemen’s competitions in March. Brian Chapman the CEO of Haven Consultants, based in Nern Plubwan, has very generously sponsored this competition for the last 4 years and it was good to see him join the fray on the 1st tee together with 40 others. The ladies always seem to excel in a medal round and today was no exception for there were 3 golfers on net 68 which had Capt. Bob putting on his thinking cap to determine the winner. Miss Poopay (10) had 12 pars in her net 69 leaving her in 4th place just behind those on net 68. Miss Porn (22) who stumbled a little after the turn to finish with net 37 one adrift of Miss Am (21) who finished with a net 36. But the ever present Miss Phin (11) had an excellent round with 5 pars and 3 birdies, two of which came on the back nine, to account for her net 34 to on the back nine to win the trophy. As usual, the men could not match these scores with only two having better than their handicap. Sel Wegner (14) had a net 72 missing some opportunities on the way home to miss out to Wayne Cotterell on the same score perhaps conserving his energies with a buggie at the turn. Tony Oakes (13) was steady through the 18 holes for a net 71 being outdone by Keith Allen (12) improving on his back nine with 5 pars and 1 birdie for a net 68. With so many 2s today you would have the impression that the greens were good for there were 10 in total going to Miss Phin, Miss Eng, Sandy Chapo, two to Dougie Crowe, 2 to Jeff North, Jim Bell, Gerrard Lambert and Jerry Gerry Grocott.

Phoenix Gold but very wet

Phoenix Gold today after the rain storm we had over the last week or so there were no carts off the cart paths which makes it for a not only hard day out for some but a long day also. We started with

Phoenix Gold today, the course was in great condition as usual and quite busy with a steady flow of golfers all around the course. With four groups playing it was quite a fast round with no holdups at
