GREEN VALLEY

STABLEFORD

Just when you thought the rainy season was over and it was safe to leave your umbrella at home when you went to the golf course the rainy season made a delayed exit, returned to leave you high and dry. We were lucky to have no rain but Green Valley was damp in some areas and mud on the ball certainly did not help your score. Today, two old duffers with a combined handicap of 21 challenged two young blades, full of hope, which was discovered to be misplaced. Jeff North and Tony Oakes were put in their place by Wayne Cotterell (14) and William Macey (19) losing the front nine and the match with Tony having to find a birdie on the last to avoid a whitewash. It did not help their mood when an inconsistent (his words) Cottee came 3rd with 36 points and William came 2nd with 38 points. But neither came close to overtaking Bob Scott (20) who, despite three 1 pointers on the back nine, claimed top prize with 41 points. In the ladies Miss Sasicha (20) double bogeyed the last hole on each nine but still presented her card for 36 points and 3rd place. The ever present Miss Eng (17) had an amazing front nine for 23 points but she ran out of steam at the turn with 14 points which allowed Miss Noodle the opportunity to win the day with 17 on the back nine and the same score of 37 points. Only two 2s today going to Peter Davies and Jeff North.
