There are many changes for the regular golfer to consider at the moment for with 30 plus amendments to the rules of golf, in effect from yesterday the 1st Jan. Back at the Billabong the burning question of the day presenting a major problem to golfers both young and old, was whether they should leave the flag in the hole or not. A problem that could, possibly, result in many sleepless nights. A strong but pleasantly cool wind kept the scoring to realistic levels with only one lady playing below her handicap. Miss Eng (17) had a good outward trip with 21 points but 5 points on the last 5 holes placed her in 4th place losing out to Miss Porn (21) who did the reverse with 21 points coming home for 34 points. Miss Pin (10) was excited on the 10th with 21 points under her belt but 4 double bogies gave her 15 points on the back for 36 points and 2nd place. Miss Nu, is a regular visitor to the podium recently, scooped the pool with 37 points despite 4 doubles on the way home. Barry Copeskate (14) could not believe his good fortune with birdies on the 1st two holes for 8 points which helped him to 22 points on the first 9 holes but the wheels fell off thereafter and with only 13 points on the return journey occupied 4th place. Peter Thomas (17) again lost on a countback with 37 points with only 2 points on three holes being the culprit. Mikael Anderson (15) edged Peter out of 2nd place with 20 points after the turn but the consistent Wayne Cotterell (13) did it again with 39 points to win the day. Only three 2s today going to William Macey, Peter Thomas and William Peach.
