Bearing in mind that there were 50 Billabong golfers participating in today’s round, the overall scores were remarkable. The fantastic golf weather may well have been a contributory factor for it was warm with a gentle breeze in the latter stages. In the ladies competition 38 points were needed to be mentioned in dispatches which was Miss Phin (11) with an impressive 22 points dropping only 1 shot on the front nine but then 4 consecutive 1 pointers relegated her to 4th place. Miss Kran (22) had 21 points on the back despite a blob on the 17th to finish 1 point behind Miss Pin (19) in 2nd place who had a birdie on the 10th a hole that has defied many a golfer to even finding a par. Her 40 points equaled that of the day’s winner Miss Sasicha (23) who had a lively celebration of her birthday back at the Billabong, but her 20 points on the way home was 1 point better than Miss Pin. Five golfers on 35 points could not have a mention but Barry Copeskate (16) came in 5th with 36 points 1 point behind Helmut Hebstreit (11) who found 2 birdies on the back nine for 20 points two less than Gary Ritchie (8) who played the 1st nine holes in just 1 over for 21 points and 39 points overall. Two golfers with 40 points today with Peter Le Noury (11) having his best round for a long time with an amazing 24 points and level par on the front nine but it is difficult to maintain that sort of form for 18 holes and a blob and more than one bogey on the back nine resulted in 16 points which was the difference between him and Dougie Crowe (9) who had 10 pars and 2 birdies to win the day. Twos were, seemingly, easy to come by for there were 9 in total going to Miss Sasicha, Miss May, Miss Lynn, Glyn Davies, Keith Allen, Jeff North, Peter Le Noury and 2 to Helmut Hebstreit.
